Week One - Studying Visual Culture
Lion King II, my favourite movie of all time. Before I move on, from what Chris said, discourse means the cultural framework while ideology is the common-sense. The major problem with ideologies in a discourse is that they do not represent the whole truth.
Discourse:
Lion King II
Ideologies:
Heterosexual relationship, love will find a way, love without prejudice and class boundaries, love can dissolve hatred.
Politics:
Politics of heterosexuality in cartoons, politics of class, politics of sexuality.
I love this movie because it has shown that nothing can beat hate but love. A world can be of no hate but love.
However, this is not the real truth about our society. Reality has shown us that hunger, violence, poverty and etc always happening around us. So the verdict is that, through representation of the real world, there's is always no hundred percent truth.
